A very nice wine that is not overly complex but a very rewarding profile. Not a ton going on with the nose but on the palate a good helping of milk chocolate with soft and pleasant tannins. Some underbrush and Cocoa powder and mint. The oak is just lingering in the background but is not dominating. Alcohol is very subdued at this point. Some small amounts of stewed blueberry but by no means a fruit bomb. A nice wine now that is soft and approachable. I can see this being very nice in the future of anywhere from now to 7-10 years. Not an over the top wine but more subtle with finesse and touch. Very nice.
oak dominated the nose and palate of this wine throughout the three hours of decanting. sure there were dark fruits and whatnot but they were overpowered. i don't recall so much oak on my last bottle. not a fan of this one though.
Opened and let slow-ox for about 2 hours before having with flank steak. At first, there was a bit too much oak and maybe vanilla to my liking. Eventually, that became more integrated with the dark fruit and became very good. Nose definitely has strong blackberry and plum and a bit of oak. The taste was very smooth at about the 4 hour mark, with some acidity hitting on the finish. It would've been nice to have a bit more secondary aroma/flavor, but still very enjoyable.
Decanted for 2 hours. First sip brought some blueberry and some kind of mint. Nice dark color, smooth on the palate...almost silky. Toward teh end of the evening there was more blackberry than blueberry. Good balance at this point. I suppose start drinking 1 a year until the end of 2015.
