  Perhaps a few years past it’s peak this wine opened up nicely on the nose but seemed somewhat muted on the palate. I enjoyed the dark fruit notes but couldn’t really get much in terms of savory or earthy notes from this wine. Enjoyable but not particularly memorable. I thought I detected some VA here early but it faded. Maybe a bad bottle? Drink up now! Overall: 89

  Yum. Colour purple / garnet. Nose, earthy, hint of spice. Lovely texture in the mouth, fine tannins and lovely balance. Dark fruits, maybe the vaguest hint of cocoa, structure there but a mouth watering freshness standing just behind it. The right ridge estate cab on the right day will bring more pleasure than the wrong Monte bello…

  Lovely - herbal and earthy, fruit has dried a bit. hints of mint on the finish.
