Pristine bottle, perfect cork, level <2cm below the cork. Slender and fresh, harmonious and together, tobacco smoke and cedar, beef stew and toasted nuts, vestiges of red berry fruit, still some tannic grip, lively and transparent, dry but fragrant finish with a touch of Seville orange. Lovely.
Initially a bit skeptical whether this was past its prime, but pleasantly surprised that it was still holing its own, which was largely to to the ideal storage conditions over the last 30+ years in the same cellar. An earthy - barnyard nose. Dark fruits, tobacco and some oak. Well balanced with long finish.

Pristine bottle, level <1.5cm below the perfect cork. Yet alas, the contents were less than impressive. Nothing really off or faulty, but the wine is just old and flaccid, without any terroir impression left. Drinkable, but not rated. Just bottle variation, I hope the remaining five will be better.

(Delas Hermitage "Marquis de Tourette") This was served blind and I thought it was a mature traditionally styled Barolo. I was way off. Had a tarry nose with meaty hints that became more apparent with air. Very floral too with some dark fruit lurking underneath. Great palate with perfectly mature fruit and great elegance. Long finish and bright acids. Perfect match with the lamb stew. This wine kept getting more and more aromatically complex.

Incredible, still fresh at that age.

A private dinner (Restaurant De Lage Vuursche, Lage Vuursche, NL): Rich and deep and spicy and mature, fresh and elegant, mature and leathery, beef stew, still beautifully lively, good length.
