straight from the cellar it was a bit cool and restrained, but i pulled the cork and let it sit and warm up. at dinner with beef roast it was very accomodating, deep cherry and tar, it was still a strong wine. hints of orange on the rim, this still has 5 years. some liked it more than me, i think mY tastes have moved on a bit, but when there is hearty bbq food, these do have a place.

I decanted this and there was quite a crust. The bottle was also cold. Sandra described as cherry, yes the fruit was still forward and lush, full and concentrated cough syrup and brown leaves, beautiful nose, ethereal, the wine s melding together nicely, slightly acidic on the finish. No shame to drink now, but I also don’t see a rush to drink for 5 years, the bottle was finished quickly with a nice roast fillet.

Still enjoyable but clearly on the downward slope. Iron and earthy aromas dominate with remnants of fruit. The texture is quite nice and the alcohol not apparent. I would not decant it.

Well, I guess 9 more years this is longer a young wine, but certainly a high-quality mature CdP, just my tastes have changed and it seemed a little alcoholic and claustrophobic, and probably best that we drank this as an apertif rather than with dinner. Full-bodied mature grenache, some dirt and old oak, I am told our remaining 2001 should taste better and younger.
