  • Dark body with bold and vivid hues in outer ring. Nose of cassis, perfumed violets and graphite. Palate is full, textural with mint and bubblegum oak, cassis, dark maple oak, mineral/limestone. Really nice QPR at $26 in 2022.

91-92 quality. Wish it had more tertiary fruit flavors. Will see how other bottles evolve

  • Feels like Bordeaux's poor country cousin. It has a bit of rustic charm - they don't make wines up in Bordeaux any more like this - but it's a little rough around the edges with a hint of the vegetal poking through and I can't help thinking this feels like an off-year Bordeaux but that they somehow also managed to make ripe.

  • A domaine started by the Rothschilds in Languedoc in 1998. Blend of Bordeaux varieties and a splash of Syrah. Fat slabs of cherry and blueberry sandwiched between the properly dosed French oak. Firm and clean across the palate. I’ve drifted away from the Bordeaux style quite a bit in the recent years, but this cuvee really tells a different tale. It’s the wine that I want to come back to when I crave some conventional Old World naughtiness.

  • '10 was a great vintage at the estate. The idea is to adapt the savoir faire of the family to the region just like Opus One and Almavia. Lots of cassis on the nose. And actually that is really quite fine. Lots of mineral and earth.
