Penultimate bottle from a 6 pack, last consumed about 2 yrs ago. This wine seems to have reached a peak in my opinion. The red and black fruits show a bit of stewed flavors, and there is mint and anise, as well as espresso notes as secondary flavors. The tannins are still gritty and finely grained, and the palate presence is quite solid. There is just a breakdown of the fruit flavors in this bottle. Time to drink up, I will have my final bottle in the coming year. Very, very good.

This is a beautiful Super Tuscan, with a blend of 65% CS, 20% Merlot and 15% Sangiovese.
Dark cherries on the palate, some chocolate and spice comes through in the long finish, and this is a dense and powerful wine!
I think I remember that as this warmed up and evolved in my trusty Lucaris tulip glass, some hints of minerality came through too.
I read from Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar that "macco" in Etruscan (Ancient site where Tuscany sits now) means "iron", and Grattamaccos develop these notes in their latter years.
Bottle 5 of 10, this magnum was contributed by Bro EC, and I reckon would be quite amazing in a further 5-10 years. Perhaps the regular size single bottle would age faster?
This was a night of 6 magnums, and 5 regular sized bottles of champers and wines.. Happy Birthday @Mika Tyson Teau!

Last consumed 16 mos ago, this 4th of 6 bottles was carried in to a meal at Sotto with friends. The wine was singing tonite. This Super Tuscan is comprised of 65% Cab Sauv, 20% Merlot, and 15% Sangiovese. No formal TN, this was delicious, with mint and anise notes over red and black fruits, showing a long and grippy finish with gorgeously refined tannins. Drink now through 2028+.

Rocking! Intense dark fruit and long lasting, grippy, tannins. Juicy and dry. The wine still appeared young and will last for many years.
