My bottle didn't quite make it. Wet leaves and mold overwhelming all else. Blew off slighty with decant, but never grew into anything to get excited about. Drinkable, but nothing like some of the glowing experiences described by others.

What a nice surprise. Bought two bottles of this and shared the first at a chevalier paulee. That bottle was a solid 89. An enjoyable bottle with a decent nose - but the body and finish were nothing spectacular. So the second bottle I brought out bc it was a summer night, we needed something light and our guest had graduated from high school in ‘78. Oh my was this wine spectacular from the outset. No need to decant. Tremendous smoke, mineral and earth on the nose mixed with light fruit. If It were a blind tasting, I would have said aged Chambertin. On the palate the fruit was stronger but the smoke and earth just danced together in something exotic - so enjoyable to decipher. The finish was shorter than expected due to appellation, age or both. But a beautiful bottle that really made the night.

An incredible aged Burgundy. Brown aged tint. Precision without being harsh or linear. Each taste brought new smells and tastes. Enough red fruit remains to provide a freshness, but the secondary and tertiary flavors come and go throughout the night. Fresh tilled soil, wet stone, old leather, grass. It is a complete package.

Fill was about 3 cm below normal and cork was saturated, which had me concerned. However, initial taste was bright and fine; elected not to decant. Translucent garnet, only bare hints of orange. Nose had red berries, earthy notes, with hints of 'old fruit' and mineral. Palate was medium light weight with a very clean, almost refreshing combination of acid brightness and silky fruit/tannins. Complex finishing flavors and texture. Paired with pan-seared cod just beautifully - acid cut the oily meat and the light fruit was harmonious rather than overpowering (CT notes helped inform this choice). Terrific sensory as well as conceptual experience.

This was better and more refined than my first bottle, very smooth and elegant, a nice core of light cherry fruit, medium to light body. A real treat!
