  • Found this buried in the cellar. Deep caramel. Sweet nose of cherry blossoms and apricots. The wine was pleasant but nothing special. Probably much too much age for this wine. Essentially a sweet apple and honey wine with a touch of vanilla. No acid, little complexity. Glad we had it when we did, would have been better a few years ago.

  • Golden, nose of caramel and orange. Over-riding note is of candied orange/ orange marmalade. Most of the acid is gone, but what's left is a syrupy, delightful dessert wine. Not all that complex, but delicious

  • Checking back 6 yrs later... Great cork, perfect start. Deep orange-amber-gold color, it was bright straw before. Nose starts orange rind and honey with sharp flowery citrus blossom toward the end, beeswax undertone. Thick, viscous, heavy texture. Strong flavors orange marmalade, apricot and honeycomb. Very sweet, a bit cloying, tartness on the finish tries to balance the sweet, but the sweet wins. Finish lasts for minutes. This is so different, can it be the same wine? I bought both bottles together. I'm totally perplexed. I'd never guess these could be the same wine. I like it better now with all secondary complexities and super long honeyed finish. Not sure everyone would agree.

  • Tried this dessert wine at an extraordinary restaurant (Berns) in Tampa. Amazing flavors including honey and pair. Can't get enough of this one.

  • Was expecting a thick, dense sweet wine, like some other late harvest Cali rieslings. But this is soft, airy and delicate. I was dissapointed at first, then realized this is Phelps and he emulates classic old-world styles. At 8 yrs, this is fresh as ever, this shows absolutely no sign of age. Cork was perfect, soft, no soaking. Very nice riesling, delicate floral and delicious! Not overly complex. Will save 2nd bottle for a few more years to see if any complexity develops.
