This wine is really coming together now. Delicious. It's a deep, brooding, dark red wine. Nose is earthy with black fruit, red licorice, spice, and rose hips. Palate is both tannic and pretty; it's easy to drink with a wet and mossy rocks minerality sitting under all of that contemplative flavor. Development is just starting to show with hints of espresso and toffee. I'm wishing that I had waited another two years on this one. Love this stuff.
I'm reacting much better to this wine today than before. It's chewy and smoky and bacony and coming together. There's cedar and smoke and lavender on the nose. Palate is rustic and mouthcoating with big chewy tannins but without losing the bright underlying acidity. There is an earthy, loamy quality that leads to a long, rich finish.
