  • My first fully mature Bordeaux. Sat upright for 3 days to work the sediment down to the bottom. Bursting with tertiary earthiness, leather, tomato leaf, basil/herb. evolved and morphed from red to black fruit. raisinated and caramel and then, at the finish, fresh red fruit. a fun experience worth seeking out

  • Medium deep garnet.

Aromas of blackcurrant, black pepper, cedar, marzipan, geranium, prune and chocolate.

Chewy dry tannins. Blackcurrant acids and burnt toast bitterness.

    Medium body

Palate of redcurrant, cassis , black pepper, sloe, thyme, rose, beetroot, espresso and smoke. Hint of vermouth.

A young, slightly tart and straight forward wine with dark and red fruit, bitter acidity and a succulent oaky finish. Drink within 10 years.

Tasted alongside Jaboulet, Chapelle, 1985, and the present wine showed equally good secondary and tertiary aromas but lacked the generosity and the balance of the matched wine. This due to lack of fruit and an elevated bitterness.

  • Opened the bottle after previously Coravining. Decanted for roughly 8 hours. Significant leather and tobacco on the palate but did touch on some red fruit on tje finish. Relatively dusty with fine integrated tannins. At 28 years o would have expected a bit more. Liked the 2005 better.

  • First bottle of 6 bought on release. In a beautiful spot. All I was hoping for from St Estephe. Open and ready to drink with some teriary notes but still with a solid backbone. Bell pepper, cinnamon, red cherry, tobacco, and smoke. Excellent stuff!

  • Nice wine, wished it had more kick to it. Strawberry with some terroir in it on the palate. No rough edges, pretty balanced. Drink now, not sure if it will get any better.
