  • Cola, coffee and good lift. These 80s DRCs are really coming around. (7797/17328)

  • Slightly dull pale ruby, excellent color; lively older cranberry, bruised strawberry, with lots of tangy/sour red berry fruits; a distinct licorice note, black and red, light sappy aspect, with a touch of animale/barn and wet forest floor. On the palate, easy, juicy almost, slightly sweet like strawberry juice and wet leaves, fine powdery light tannins with good acidity; not a big wine by any stretch, but balanced and seamless with good mid-palate, with a finish that builds to an almost spicy cinnamon/red hots kind of character (more of an impression--not really red hots!). So cool to have this age and show so well for such a disastrous vintage! At Lucque's for my b-day with an amazing pork chop.

  • Burgundy Grand Cru Tasting: faded brown, amber, medium translucent; sweet macerated cherry, slight earthy wild strawberry, light toffee, pot pouri, floral sachet with a brown spice aspect. This is past it's prime by a good 5-8 years, but still drinking very well with lovely remnants of sweet red fruit, a nice bouquet and musty dried floral character. Medium light body and medium-long finish. Not bad considering WS gave this 90 points on release (and $68 release price).

  • Ethereally amazing nose. Flowers , spice and everything Nice. Weak vintage that shows the strength of the domaine. Knockout nose as good as any le musigy or close de beze. Ribena currants, light strawberries and delicate tannins. Smooth silky mouthfeel. A pretty and delicious wine with all that embodies the best of it's village. Could well have been an 02 with it's still vibrant fruits. A good bottle no less. Pristine and clear in it's presentation. Commendable and probably the best 84 burgundy or 84 vintage(my wife's birth year) wine I have ever encountered. Need to get more if ever possible!
