The ripasso impact is slight, but still noticeable. This is a nice, easy drinking wine. Lots of black cherry and plum with a little spice. Nice smooth tannins. Lovely finish of tart cherry and velvety tannins. Not a memorable wine, but I keep wanting to refill the glass....

3.5 First Ripasso in some time. Fun nose with hints of earth and spice, and a great balance between fruit and acid in this low alcohol red. Highly recommend as a food wine--mushroom pasta with a splash of cream.

A private dinner (Restaurant Bord'eau **, Amsterdam, NL): Rondinella and Corvina Veronese, refermented on the lees of the Recioto and the Amarone and aged in oak and cherry wood. An elegantly styled Ripasso, without the overbearing balsamic notes and high alcohol content of many others. Ripe cherry fruit, autumnal notes, pepper; gentle and juicy palate, suave tannins, medium weight, lovely balance with just a little bit of added structure from the ripasso; good length.

Not a typical (modern) ripasso. The nose has cherries, raspberries and dried forrest fruits together with some spices. At first the taste is very, very mild and soft as velvet but after a while there is a certain acidity and some soft tannins. On the palate cherries, tea, and red currant. Hard to rate as it is far from the mainstream ripasso - but it is certainly more interesting than many of the high-level-alcool ripassos where as much taste as possible has been dragged out of the grapes.

Decent effort on a ripasso. Tough to bring the amarone profile through a base wine so drink it for what it is worth. A Valpo + a little
