The Chardonnay isn’t offered as part of the tasting during the summer months, but will return in the fall. 50% malolactic fermentation. Aged 20% in new French oak, and the remainder in neutral French oak. Complex, layered flavors of pear and butter, with just enough oak grip without going overboard. Really nicely done.

Stinson Vineyards 2012 Chardonnay (SRP $21): This wine is straw yellow in color with inviting aromas and flavors of lively stone fruit, citrus blossom, and white flowers with perfumed honey and delicate toasty vanilla tones wrapped around a solid core of bright acidity. On the palate, it shows some richness in the texture with good depth of flavor and medium length. It's nice by itself yet its vibrant personality makes it an agreeable partner to fish, veggie, and poultry dishes. Approximately 200 cases of this wine were produced. Region: Monticello, Central Virginia. (Other info: ABV 13%, 20% new French oak barrels)
Medium yellow-straw color. Some white peach, honey, perfumed but also some nutty components. Richly textured and inviting on the palate, but medium acid for freshness. The nutty-honeyed flavors work well with the white peach, yellow apple and lemon custard flavors. A distinct hazelnut-toast flavor lingers onto the finish with a note of honeysuckle and lime. An all-around crowd-pleasing Chardonnay, but also showing some complexity and depth.
