Grenache Smackdown (Wally's, Arlington Heights): nose: a bit stewed and kind of rasiny with some bolder tones of black fruits, black cherries, and black currants. The stewed profile was bothering and it had decent depth that rescued it a bit
taste: big tannins still with a decent medium feel, but stewed tones of dark plums, black fruits, black cherries, and black currants with some raisiny tones too. While it still has plenty of fruit and tannin, this came across as an over ripe 03 CdP
overall: the stewed profile was off-putting, but the wine still possesed good qualities to it. Hard to say how much longer this would need, or if it never will be in a sense

Raisins, heat, marachino liqueur, black plum, orange zest, bitters, with a hint of char on the finish. Didn't come together well, seems incomplete. Maybe try it on the rocks with some Bourbon...

A lot of sweet blueberry, hints of char and stem, very low-key Draper oak. Nice, but fairly simple with a wimpy structure. Drink now, it's ready and will only fade.

Soaring nose of perfumed ripe cherry soda. A fair bit of VA, but the wine is tasty enough that i'm willing to overlook it. Huge and delicious but very primary - i would hold any remaining bottles and hope for some more secondary development. Long finish. (Tasted blind)
