Hard to believe that a Washington wine can hold strong for 20+ years, it this 2002 D2 held up amazingly well. Plenty of age on the nose and front palate with solid fruit remaining for its age.

Records not handy. I believe I bought 3b 12-14 years ago for under 25/b from a small central Il chain; this is #1. Solid cork. Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Dark purple; red fruit nose with some mature plum that follows on the palate, a bit flabby and past prime; some persistence. A clear notch or more below the '98 reported on Mar 16 '19 that I bought at the winery. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. This is notable- when considering quality, age, and price.

Amazing! Previous bottle was flawed and I was worried, but this one made up for it. A robust palate with highly developed, mature flavors. Dark, dark fruit. I wish I could hold on to more D2 for this long.

One of two bottles purchased at auction. In the past 3 years I have enjoyed D2 back to 1993, and none have been as stewed as this bottle. Tons of fruit and body still present, but couldn’t get past the raisin and prune. I suspect this was just poorly cellared. Cork was solid and did not appear compromised.
