Allegedly sourced from “The Domaine” this continues to show enormous potential but needs another 5 years to shine. A very spicy and opulent nose marries with a rich palate. Red/ black fruited and with a lovely line of dried orange peel, this is lovely

Richebourg and Romanee St Vivant Dinner (Summer Pavilion, Ritz Carlton, Singapore): Very nice, if perhaps just a little simple compared to its brethren in the same flight. This wine had a lovely expressive nose, the ripest of the bunch, with rich scents of blackberries and plums and black cherries lined with spice and stony mineral. Very attractive. Like the nose, the palate was the most friendly and forward amongst the Richebourgs. While there was a nice structure and clarity to the wine, it was actually quite gentle, with softened tannins and subtle acidity spread around rather yummy notes of dark cherries and red berries. Indeed a bit soft for a 2002 Richebourg. It was all very yummy and satisfying though, with a mouthfilling warmth that spread into a nice long finish infused with a gentle spiciness. Very good indeed and drinking startlingly well for a 2002 Richebourg, even if this all meant that the wine just lacked a little oomph.
