From a Magnum. A little tight when first opened. Needed about 30 minutes to open up. Blackberry, spice, tobacco, earth, cassis on the nose. More black fruit, cassis, spice, earth, cedar, anise flavors. smooth, soft tannins in a medium finish. A group favorite.

4th Saturday Group: Uptown Brown Bag (MM’s): Double blind. A little high toned to start. Notes of currants, red plum and just a touch of something along the lines of rhubarb. Becomes more dark-fruited in the bouquet as this sits, also adding herb and mint notes. Black fruit dominates the palate, with soft tannins and a lingering finish. Guessed 10-12 year old Napa cab. (MM)

Earth and ripe fruit aromas; restrained fruit with soft tannins; an aged cabernet ready to drink.
