  • A bit surprised by the slightly negative tasting notes. Had two bottles lost in the back of the cellar, so I opened one not expecting much. Initially, it was very closed. Opened up over time, but it's not very complex. After about 3 hours of being opened, it became much more interesting with a dominant black pepper note, which is what I remember from the Christiansen Syrahs I've tasted at the winery. I highly recommend a 2 hour decant.

  • Better than a bottle only six months ago. Surprisingly tannic. Light body and a short finish, but the fruit and tannins lingered. A ton of blue and black fruit, but no pepper and no complexity.

  • Pretty disappointing. Pleasant enough, but completely lacking in complexity or varietal characteristics. Blue fruit on the nose and palate. No pepper, no minerals, no anything except rather jammy fruit. A LOT of fruit on the palate, and it lingered (in spite of the abrupt finish), but it lacked tannins and acidity. Flavor profile matched reasonably well with lamb chops, but if I'd tasted it blind, I would have guessed it to be a cheap zinfandel.

  • I really doubt this was any sort of flaw, but this was the first of our three bottles. IMHO, Adam's strength is really his Novy syrahs...unfortunately, this particular bottle fell well short of the mostly outstanding 2004 he has crafted from other fruit. This has a medicinal component...I get no black pepper that others have noted...we'll open another of the reamining 2 bottles soon and see.

  • Disappointing - overwhelming alcohol
