Jim's Retirement Party (Libertyville, IL): Apparently an imperfect bottle/ cork, but certainly still very tasty with dried apricot and caramel apple, showing just enough freshness.

Jim's Retirement Party (Libertyville, IL): Extremely dark colour; there was definitely concern that this bottle was shot, and that the cork almost slipped straight into the bottle was a second reason to worry. Admittedly, the wine is probably a little more oxidized and slightly maderized than what a pristine example would be, but there is still plenty to like here, with a rich, caramelly palate and counterweighting acidity.

from auction. Opened the night before and noticed the wine needed some time to get back the viscosity or thickness that you would associate with this old yquem. Decided to take a glass each and drank the remainder over lunch the next day. A wise decision. Incredible creme brule and notes of caramel. Color like caramel. Lacked the freshness and acidity other great vintages have which make the wine a bit too heavy. Nevertheless, a wine at age 60 that gave enormous pleasure... still my favorite wine...
