This bottle was also orange-tinged, but we didn't think it "flawed" as with previous tastings. Bottle variation? The wine worked beautifully to complement a pork and kraut dinner, with the spice and honeyed nature offsetting the main course perfectly and the acidity providing a nice balance. Tartrates in the glass at the end. One more bottle left.

Rich caramel color and tartaric crystals on the cork. It has apricot, toasted almond and hints of lychee and rose, and baked pear. Not a subtle wine. Maturing well.

A great showing on this one tonight, perfect cork, dark gold color all the classic ZH Gewurtz flavors and aromas come at you fast and strong. This is not shy and coats the mouth with satisfying oily texture that is counter buffered by fantastic acidity. There is an slight bitter almond note on the finish that could detract fro some but did not bother me. Some slight residual sugar is noted keeping it from being bone dry which is quite nice. Fantastic food match with Jean Luc's Alsatian onion tart.

FWS Review: Shows it's age, but still drinking well. Gold in color. Nose is lychee and roses, with some white pepper coming through as well.
On the palate the acidity is moderate, which is way higher than I expected. Full body with a hint of RS. Not a sweet wine, but also not completely dry. This is a bold, big in your face wine...
