I didn't expect much of this cellar relic, based on online recommendations, but it surprised us. The wine still had good structure, some residual sweetness and a little hint of clove in the taste, and a very nice nose as soon as the bottle was opened. The wine had a ruby color, no hint of brown. It was hard to believe this was a 23 year old wine, other than the cork turning to dust as soon as the corkscrew was inserted. There wasn't even a great deal of sediment. I would drink this again if I had more. If you have it, drink up - it's still worth opening but who knows for how much longer?

Seems fortified. Sweet raisins in a glass. Simple, a bit boring, and very sweet. Drinkable but not my cup of tea. I might add that I doubt it would have been better ten years ago
