Out of 375. Smokey on the nose. Perhaps a bit of leather. Fruit still dominant but well in to the transition from primary to tertiary notes. Cherry cola on the finish

I was tempted by some recent pro reviews suggesting this was in its drinking window. True, but early window, even with a brief 60 minute decant; not much in the way of tertiary development. Nice aromas and good flavor intensity, most fruit, with a little hint of green mint and herbs. Decent structure and tautness with mostly integrated tannins. A bit thin the first night, but a little fleshier the second night. Interestingly, I detected no oak the first night, but definite oaky notes the second night, albeit ones that blended in after a bit of air. This was quite enjoyable to drink.

Color a darkening purple to garnet to the rims. Dense and looks young.
Absolutely gorgeous nose of graphite, cherry cordial, forest floor, loads of spice including eucalyptus, a touch of something savory like thyme or rosemary, pine needles.
On the palette the tannins are well integrated, smooth mouth feel, coating the mouth, with a long finish of a minty dark fruit and forest floor. I’m glad I have more bottles. This still has years left!

(Chateau Smith Haut Lafite Rouge) #3; COLOR-gorgeous dark red; NOSE-big red fruit; enjoying the plum aspect; gorgeous pomegranate on the tail end; some creaminess; PALATE-this wine is not fooling around; very big; great silkiness coming across; beautiful dark cherry flavors on the mid-palate that I like quite a bit; refinement; there's gorgeous REAL tobacco on the 3rd quarter mid-palate transition to the finish; then it hits you with very, very hard with sour cherry meets grainy leaf with a accents of pink cotton candy; really quite pretty; great silkiness, but very dark and very young; tight tannins; this wine is a baby; this is fantastic, but not completely knocking my socks off at this $100 price point; but ultimately, this is just so young and has potential to improve; RP-95; GV-92+
(Château Smith Haut Lafitte) Very dark red violet color; vanilla and caramel oak nose; a little remote, nothing on entry, then oaky tart plum; medium finish
(Château Smith Haut Lafitte) Medium red violet color; tobacco nose; big on tannins right now; drying short-medium finish

Soft and smooth. Cabernet fruit shines through. Mid-bodied but stood up well to smoked brisket.
