Incredibly complex nose of leather, roasted meat, ripe and evolved red fruit… Tannins are super silky and complex, we thought it was the Echezeaux 2002!! Very very nice wine!!

More in line with the Rhys 2006--dark, slightly cloudy, rich ripe nose, hint spices, concentrated macerated berry fruits, soft, caressing mouthfeel in line with '05; Just a bit heavy-handed but really enjoyed this. Would be great with a heavy sauce thing or Beouf Bourgognonne. at Best in the Park BBQ. EWG

Woah, how'd this happen? This is wide open and ready to drink. There is a big punch of funky earth as soon as the cork pops. We drank this together with the 2019, which was pretty well advanced for its age, but the difference between precociousness and actual time in the bottle was apparent through the paler, rustier color here as well as its more streamlined, slender figure, having been polished down nicely these last 15 years in the cellar. The personality on display here is more mineral than animal, in contrast the '19, loaded with stony earth but not at all austere because the tannins have been polished down nicely too - wasn't expecting a 2005 Corton to come out to play so soon, but it's easy and engaging and you don't have to reach to get anything out of this.

(Bouchard Père et Fils Le Corton) There are many dimensions to this deep, wide and dense nose, though the fact that it's been in bottle only a few days might have taken away a little gloss. Very soft entry on the palate but you are soon bathed in soft, finely grained tannin. There's real concentration yet there is balance too. The wine opens out well on the palate and is impressively long. This will require years and years in bottle, but is always well priced for the quality.

Medium red with bricking, mature burg nose that was gamey, coffee & espresso & earthy, a rustic old style Burg that I really enjoyed
