  • From half bottle format. The smell of fine oak, toast, spices, vanilla, sweet cola and violets. Fresh acidity, medium bodied with good intensity of red fruits. Spicy, and savory at the same time, displaying sous bois, forest floor notes. No green meanies here. At a good drinking point and will still keep for some time.

  • No vintage green detected here. It is spinal and snappy, but not vegetal or even herbal. It did need a bit of time to come together in the glass, but it didn't take long before it showed true Petits Monts character, with brown spice scents, a silky texture, and almost incongruously robust material underneath. This wasn't exactly the best time to be drinking it, though, as the fruit is in that in-between state where it has lost its primary vibrancy and taken on an autumnal cast, without much savory development or resolution to the structure. I hope other bottles develop some of that without the greens rearing their ugly head... Still, for an in-betweensy Burgundy, this was extremely drinkable.

  • Berry Vosne spice menthol nose. On the palate, there is darker fruit, pine needles, and acid. Finishes with drying tannins. Good but no more than that. Another victim of the vintage.

(Potel Nicolas Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts) Not quite the expressiveness of the aromatics of the Fuées, but still, it is both fresh and complex. Similar to the Fuées in the mouth we are again talking about silky balance coupled to wonderful complexity. Lovely fruit. Another 'buy'.
