  • Opened day before. First, I've got to admit, that when I'm drinking a bottle of wine for around $10, I want it to be fairly simple. Fruity, easy to drink, quaffable. That's what $10 bottles of wines are for, in my opinion. So using that theory, this is a nice bottle of wine. It's all about bright fruit, little tannins, and almost nothing else going on. Simple and fruity. Also, went terrific with some slow cooked BBQ beef ribs. This isn't a very nice syrah, but it's a nice $10 bottle of wine. 'nuff said.

  • Similar experience as previous bottles but with a little more of an earthy spice profile and added espresso/chocolate notes.

  • 4/5 stars. One of the best of J.Lohr's estate series wines. Attractive nose of leather, dried berry, flower and spice. Smooth mouthfeel with refined tannins followed up by cherry, clean red to dark berry fruit, and peppery undertones. Easy-spicey finish that lingers. Evolves well with time. Plays nicely with others. Looking forward to day 2.
