very good bottle. typical syrah from Northern Rhone, cherry, pepper, bacon fat, and with time, ashes and cold tobacco. the palate is pure, medium body and long. not over extracted as sometimes this wine can be in stronger vintages. very good pairing with a squab.

Perhaps a bit past its prime, but showing beautifully, like a stunning movie star who somehow looks even better as her youthful looks mature into a deeper beauty. Opened about 6 hours before drinking, which was about right. Not decanted. Won't improve with more time in the bottle, but should hold this plateau for a bit longer. My score may be a tad inflated (but only a tad) by a heavy bias towards this wine.

Blind Syrahs at Chevalier (Chicago, IL): Served blind. Gorgeous clearly old world nose of dried black fruit, beef jerky and pepper. The palate is showing it's age with moderate concentration and dried fruit but there is so much Northern Rhone goodness with bacon, pepper and olive. Good polished finish.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chicago, IL): Tasted blind. Earthy, slightly musty. Black fruit and sweet spice, seemed older than 1992.
