Tasted blind. Nose of cedar wood, soil, forest floor, very classic, I guessed Medoc. The palate is soft and succulent, tannins fully resolved. Nice, no signs of extracted parkerized Pavie in this sampel. Fully mature, top class claret, drink up.

Fine, round, very much in harmony, some chocolate here, but a more cool feeling, almost Left Bank; this is an upright wine, understated, European ... #VeddingeBakker

Wine dinner were we drank the 2003 and 1995 Lafite Rothschild and the 2000 and 1996 Pavie. All wines were opened, but not decanted, for at least 2 hours before serving. The wines were drunk over a 4 hour period with and after dinner.
This was my least favorite wine of the night. Something has to finish last, right? Really a bit behind the other three wines. I probably should have opened it even earlier, as it continued to change of the course of the evening. It was much improved by the end of the night. It started off with notes of sherry (maybe slightly oxidized, but the cork was looked great), and even a little astringent. Not a much fruit left, it was still fun to try this.
Having no experience with Bordeaux's much older than this, I have no idea where it will go over the next ten years. But I think its near the end of it life cycle now.

Weekly tasting group #146; Bordeaux: Right bank or Left bank? (@ RW): Not so many descriptive notes. Beautiful, complex and mature bouquet. On the palate chocolate, beautiful acidity and mature and soft tannin. Medium bodied and elegant. A really refined wine at its peak and the end of its maturity stage. Drink now or ultimately in 2016. I loved it.

Soft and supple, some cedar, restrained fruit. This is lovely stuff but drink soon.
