Fresh black raspberry, red vines, mocha, and sap. Just lovely. I don't see any point in holding these though, my recent bottles are more diffuse and lack the intensity without much other development from years ago.
Tasted triple blind. Mellow nose of licorice, cherry, and some river rock. Succulent body, deep, luscious red fruit. Undertones of black pepper and mocha. Layered. Mid palate grip. Lively and energetic. Metallic/bloody notes on the end. Lengthy finish. Perfect hint of barnyard. Aspects of this remind me of Clos Mogador. Someone said, "This is a thing." Unanimous favorite of the night. Drinking well now, and will continue to do so.

A few deals arrived late tonight that are quite interesting - all are worth a look but they are not for the shy. These are full-impact wines but they have eccentricities and a unique character that separates them from the norm.
All are directly from the source with perfect provenance:
1999 Tenuta di Trenoro (Toscana) IGT(AG90)
2003 Rotllan Torra Tirant (Priorat) 1.5lt
Quite rare in this format - one of the more regal wines coming out of Priorat...
2005 L & A Lignier Morey-St-Denis "Les Chaffots" 375ml (BH89-92)
