  • Private Dinner (New York, NY): Opened October 27, 2013. Aromas of maple syrup and brown sugar provide a solid base of sweetness. In the mouth, crazy acidity, like biting into a lime and then letting it sit on your teeth while the juice sneaks into your gums and starts a not-so-slow burn. Not for everyone, but I happen to like biting into limes and found this really fun to drink. The intensity of the acid keeps the sugar in check. Make sure you brush your teeth afterwards. Rated 1 on a scale of -1 to 3.

  • With the Edgemont guys, just having eaten a massive steak dinner at Benchmark in Park Slope. We wandered into Terroir for a few post-steak glasses of amaro. I noticed this 1969 Madeira behind the bar, and since '69 is the year in which all of us were born, we had to taste it. Really good! On the palate, nuts and toffee, salted caramel, backed up with lively lime acidity, along with an interesting bottom note of tobacco leaf. Much appreciated by the guys.

  • Deep and funky with rich molasses and nutty flavors. Rich and decadent with crisp acidity and a powerful, complex, alcoholic finish. Medium-sweet with great cut and supreme complexity. Surprisingly quite ready.

  • Superb Madeira! Already drinking well with plenty of intensity and great complex flavors including molasses, varnish, dried wood, smoke, brown spices, etc. As far as the young stuff goes, this is one of the best I've had.
