Quick taste from a bottle that was open 4 days. This was fabulous, no sign of deleterious oxidation, it was smooth, open knit, at once fruity and savory. Cherry jam, prunes, cassis, olives, thyme, cured meat... very fresh, not a mote of heat, supple and soft tannins. This should continue to drink well for another 10 years.

This is in a dynamite place right now. Cork wet halfway up and soft but seal intact. The nose shows little if any of the reductive notes from its youth. Instead there is now an unmistakable dense syrah, with layers of fruit and olives. The tannin is integrated leaving a plush still youthful mouthful of fruit with a lengthy very pleasing finish. Served this with Rack of venison and a port juniper and cassis reduction and the match was sublime.
I was worried about whether this would ever come around at the start, but there is certainly lots of life and time ahead on the one. Bravo John Alban
