  • Opened with rack of lamb. This pours a dark, full bodied red. Funky aromas of barn and vegetables. Very sweet, fat fruit profile of macerated overripe strawberry, black and red raspberry. Round and full, with a decent length. Lacking acidity, I created a geuze of this and the '99 Les Jalets which was too harshly acidic to create a wonderfully balanced blend that provided the fruit and acidity to yield a well structured and balanced wine. This is decent as a stand-alone, just a bit flabby and round.

  • 14.8% alcohol. Horribly, irretrievably corked. Tried the saran wrap trick with it ... and, by the next day, it seemed to have cleared up somewhat, but not to the point of real drinkability. A shame, since this is such a nice Thanksgiving wine.

  • WIML88,PURPLENR. No formal notes. WineDrinkerofTexas popped this and served it double blind. My first guess was California Pinot Noir, porobably from northern Sonoma such as RRV or Anderson Valley so I guess I was in the neighborhood. Interesting wine but not something I'd seek out. Drink over the short term.
