My experience concurs with John Gilman's notes. This bottle was much more advanced than the '97 and '99 tasted together. Color was golden and palate was rich and not as structured. Where's the steely minerality? Sweet on the entry but dry on the finish. It doesn't feel oxidized but just feels odd.
Alsace and Austria Tasting: Honey, ginger, orange peel and spice. Really excellent texture and structure on the palate. The fruit is powerful but the structure keeps up easily. Doesn't quite have the same brightness as the last bottle, so maybe it is closing up a bit for now. Will still continue to hold my other bottle.
