This is the best old Port I've ever enjoyed. Opening taste lasted 45+ seconds thanks to both layers of complexity and a sharp acidity that kept going. The acidic backbone was the only part that wasn't silky smooth (for Port). Agree with others who suggested fig, pecan pie, and caramel. Thanks to Steve for sharing in honor of Andrew's breaking of his Lenten fast.

From a 375. Was a brick-brown on in the glass with a bit of cloudiness. Showed date and fig essence with incredible acidity to balance the richness. Nose makes it seem like it would be more rich than the actual lightness on the palate. An amazing wine to get to try.

Extraordinary. Exceeded my high expectations. Like a cross between a tawny port and a Madeira. Bright, clear golden brown color. Weightless and youthful. Hard to describe the flavors as they were so complex, but it had everything from figs, to honey, to citrus peel, to tobacco, but married together so well that it was hard to pick apart. Nice acidity. The four of us drank the whole bottle in one evening, which shows you how light it seemed.

Iberian Wine Dinner (Milford, CT): Another stellar half bottle. What impresses here is the piercing, lemony acids that keep the caramel and pecan pie flavors from becoming too sweet and cloying. Utterly seamless wine with such incredible lift and length. Wow!

Amazing drink. Fresh. Caramel, figs, raisin, apricot and a myriad of flavors that kept evolving over a few hours.
