PnP; not much change through evening. Reddish violet. Nose features blue fruits with an herbaceous (stem?) component that harmonizes well. Also, mocha, tar and a dash of light pepper spice. Palate has medium fruit, resolving tannins and a good, but not tense, acidic backbone. I liked the balance of dark fruit and structure. Not complex and, while not clumsy, not multidimensional nor finesseful. Could hold further, but I will tee up remaining bottles for the coming year. (mistakenly posted this note originally as the 2006).
Very smooth, fully resolved, awesome with a marinated flank steak. All in balance, with alc hiding where it should be (under the bed), long finish without any of the bite that bad boy CA Syrahs can display when they try to show off. The long finish was so mild that mi esposa thought it might even be a mature Pinot, fer gawsh sakes. Great bottle.
med ruby; med developing, tobacco, leather, forest floor, black pepper, cherry, plum, coffee; dry, med acid, med tannin (silky), med+ body/alc, med intensity, med+ finish, forest floor, black cherry, mint, coffee; very good, ready to drink - showing nice development, tannins smooth and silky, alcohol lets finish sustain itself
