I had bought a range of Potel wines from 2005, and most of the others have been somewhat disappointing, a little flat in general. So I had low expectations for this bottle, but was very pleasantly surprised. Fresh, vibrant, balanced, generally delicious and very easy to drink.

Drinking incredibly well right now. The nose is classic PN. Could I tell you blind that it was NSG? Maybe not, but I might say village level Burg. The fruit was tightly wound at first, but really opened up with about an hour of air. Great spicy finish with a touch of wet slate.

Last bottle. Surprisingly youthful in flavor. Lots of relatively fresh berry fruit. Has a distinctive secondary nuance to the aromas though. Drinking very well right now.

(Potel Nicolas Nuits St.Georges) A fresh and forward, though initially slightly diffuse nose of predominantly red fruit - becomes more interesting and ‘coulis’ in style in the glass. The concentrated palate strikes a masculine pose. Good acidity and intensity too. The finish is a good one, there’s nothing wimpy about this rather ‘honest’ bottle of Nuits. Recommended.

Best showing. Nice structure, restrained nose. Went very well with Heston's sherry chicken.
