Double blind tasting Medium straw color High aromatics - lime zest/ petrol/ wet dog and lanolin and intense mineral notes but with overwhelming plastic/ rubber hose notes at first which did subside with time in the glass - very unusual but quite appealing Medium plus bodied - possible slight residual RS - round waxy mouthfeel - citrus and cream with significant salinity Medium plus/ high acidity and medium alcohol with no notable phenolics This is drinking very well now but will probably improve for the next 10-15 yrs I guessed Australian Riesling based on the unusual aromas and acidity but following reveal, I did note the Chenin character here

Medium straw Aromatics high. No new oak. Unusual start with a glycerol, new paper and other undefined chemical note that slowly evolves into lemon furniture polish, lees cream finishing with intense minerality. No fruit Palate has a medium body with a foamy/creamy mouthfeel. Acid medium + and crescendo. Subtle phenolics. Alcohol medium. Mildly honeyed beeswax, ginger spice and motor oil. Finishes with salt Finish has a long length. Balanced. Dry glass notes of wool and cream Probably not too surprising that this is all tertiary at this point. Regardless, I found it still had nice structure and while unique/odd still enjoyable. Supposedly this came direct from the producer after aging at their estate to Garagiste. Drink now.

Standup tasting, alongside the 2006. Library release. Bright from start-to-finish with faint earth and honeycomb making it even more interesting. Wonderful now.

Pop and pour. Better on day 1 than day 2. On the nose: sweet apple, lanolin, hay, so elegant. On the palate: a hint of RS, hay, melon, good salinity, fantastic acidity, long finish. Drink now.

(Domaine des Baumard Savennières Clos du Papillon) Very light yellow color; has a touch of petillance on nose, with nearly bitter citrus; tart kumquat, lemon, tart apple palate with medium acidity; medium-plus finish 88+ points (flawed somehow? Not at all as good as when I've had it twice before)
(Domaine des Baumard Savennières Clos du Papillon) Very light yellow color; green apple, tart peach, mineral, Chenin Blanc nose; tart apple, good minerality, tart green fruit palate; medium finish 91+ pts. (drinkable now, and with acidity to go for another 2-3 more years)

Bright lemon zest, flowers, and flinty nose. Still crisp and vibrant, with plenty of acidity. Will open the next one with a dozen oysters. Good stuff.
