20 years old and still going strong! Wow, really dark purple, with almost no sign of aging. From the nose you'd never guess this was 20 years old, brimming with iron, dark berries, meaty/bacon notes, plum, and loads of spice. On the palate the wine has terrific acidic lift, very fine tannins, and great balance, with the the dark fruits shining through and a strong hint of white pepper emerging on the medium long finish. Great stuff, sadly my last bottle.

My early 2000 Novy Syrahs continue to impress me with their aging. Supposedly outside of its drinking window, this is very good drinking. Not a mind blowing experience, simply tastes good and balanced. No reason to wait, but not gone by any means.

Didn't take detailed notes. Very deep inky purple in colour. On the nose it was concentrated blackberries with leather, roasted red meat and tobacco. On the palate it was more brambly fruits, a little gameness and toasted smokey oak in the background. It is a big wine in every way but there is a balance here in that you know it is big guy with manners. Good length on the finish.

OC Offline With John and Kimberly Cabot (Fratello's Laguna Niguel): My oldest Novy, and sadly, my last 2001 from the vintage. This Page held up well, although it seemed a bit fumey to me, i.e. boozie. Blackberry, still showing some zip and a chocolate finish. Probably can keep going on.
