Very consistent with my previous showings - yay :) Closer to the recent showing than last December's show stopper.
Stood 750ml for months, PnP. Once again, initial must/tart/funk dissipated in minutes; every sip improved through the last drop. A bit more bricking color to this one. Still fresh and vibrant, impressive youthfulness - shocking for this at age 25. Lovely nose of lavender and rose. The palate is so subtle - seemingly simple, a kiss of simple sweetness on the attack but wonderfully balanced bright red fruit with fine acidity. Merry Christmas!
Claret-like, showing mostly red fruit (it's principally cabernet sauvignon with a minor sangiovese component). Fully mature with excellent a sweet entry, good concentration and excellent balance. Showed some cocoa on the long finish. Probably would have been swooning, but it suffered for the 100 pt showing of a flawless '85 Sassicaia in the glass next door.
I absolutely adore this wine. Tonight's wasn't as spectacular as that bottle in Dec, but very beautiful. Stood 750ml for months, slow ox-ed briefly, then poured a touch (from the outset, it wasn't tight as much as it was awkward) and decanted the rest and slowly savored. I was slightly concerned: this cork had pushed out a few cm, expanding the capsule. Initial must/tart/funk dissipated after 15-20 minutes; every sip improved through the last drop. Still very little bricking to the deep crimson color, almost shocking at age 25. Lovely nose of lavender and rose. The palate is so subtle - seemingly simple but wonderfully balanced bright red fruit with fine acidity. Well stored bottles of this are GOLD, Jerry!
