Currants, berries (blackberries & blueberries), leather, and smoky tobacco on the nose. Upon opening, intense barnyard and soil on the palate, along with leather and sour cherry notes. After that blew off, there were interesting layers of smoke, earth, cedar, clove, vanilla (classic Artesa signature) and subtle sweet fruit. Seemingly a blend of Old World and New World, it's a refreshing Syrah unlike some of the heavier fruit bombs coming out of Sonoma/Napa. Long finish, touches of anise, currant, and leather. Drinking very well now.

Quite a nice syrah. Meaty and bacony with a nice touch of blueberry. Full-bodied.
