One of the wines of the night. Beautiful and lightly oxidized. Lemon, hazelnut some subtle sherry notes. A beautiful wine. For sure people say these aren’t for everyone but all of the non wine folks that tried it also loved it.

Tasted Blind: Very well made and balanced Etoile. Mostly Chardonnay with a little dash of Savagnin. Unmistakably Jura, elegant oxidation, some light curry and spicy notes with yellow apple. Nice even though this is a little simple.

Sherry on the nose. Sherry on the palate. With some biting acid. I've been drinking a few more "rustic" ("antique-style"?) oxidized wines of late. I'm growing quite fond of them, especially when they have bubbles. But this wasn't my favorite. Pretty one-dimensional. Interesting, perhaps, as a preface to Vin Jaune (I'd say I get them better having tasted this).

Initially this was all Tree Top apple juice on the nose and really starting to invoke bad memories of junior high school and juice boxes. Fortunately the savagnin came out to play with all of its gently oxidized goodness. Savagely acidic (in a good way), and showing no obvious oak influence, this was just a little lacking in elegance.

Starts out like Sherry and finishes with notes of hazelnut. Not for the masses, but very interesting for the adventurous taster.
