3rd magnum of 3, decanted an hour, perfect cork and level, little changed from earlier bottles, the only thing to note is that towards the end of the bottle (ie after 90 minutes) the fruit diminishes and rather granular tannins become more obtrusive reminding me of the better 86 clarets, possibly worth risking extended cellaring given fruit intensity initially. F+ (18).

1st of 3 magna (#466), decanted an hour, perfect cork and level - deepish garnet, little development; attractive, complex, pure nose, black fruit, some spice and coffee; fullish, long persistent and concentrated, quality fruit covering slightly dry tannin with purity of a top Burg, impressive now but with scope to develop further. Currently F+ (18)......nice laid back but precise wine making with much to admire!

Occational dinner group; Il Caberlot tasting. (Mei Wah): Bouquet with creamy red berries, truffle, autumn and some pleasant barnyard impressions. On the palate a mature and juicy wine with chocolate, beautiful acidity and soft tannin. In a perfect drinking stage now and no hurry either. 96+

(Podere Il Carnasciale Il Caberlot) From magnum - nearly opaque red violet color; tart plum, smoke, tar, tart blackberry, roasted black fruit, charcoal nose; tasty, black pepper, ripe black currant, mineral, tar, espresso palate with definition and near medium acidity, like a Cheval Blanc from a big year, like 2000; good now and should go 25 years; medium-plus finish
