Drying tannins. Too drying. 2 hours later the fruit peaked out only a little.. A bit frustrating.

Deep, dark and quite intense for a Burgundy with rich blue/cherry fruit. Succulent and crunchy on the finish with complex notes of minerals and dark spices. Really improved with air and stood up nicely to a hearty boeuf bourguignon but it lacks the lacy elegance that I prefer in aged Burgundy. Very youthful so could it come around one day? 89?

Alongside the 2003. More black vs red fruit, while so classically spiced like the finest of Volnay. Dense and powerfully packed with wonderful balance. so engaging now, this is likely to hold well (and maybe improve?) for a decade +.

02/07/09 vertical. 2002 has plump, round, svelte red cherry with floral and spice accents. Concentrated and seamless with all components in harmony. Dense, cherry-filled finish. At peak.
