Strawberries, raspberry, floral, petrichor, and wet rocks. Palate: med+ body, spice, med acidity, med+ drying tannins, long long finish. Good concentration. Structure to go another 10+ years

Even ruby. Lovely cherry fruit and citrus scents. Medium body. Harmonious dark red fruit with a splash of menthol and soil. Solid acidity. This was one of the more round, fluid examples of this cuvée that I’ve had. Excellent now but could certainly improve with further aging.

Bottle breathe for 1.5 hours. Very perfume nose, and the palate has good red fruit, thin structure and medium finishing. The sweetness drops substantially after 45 min though. Maybe this is bottle variation.

Given fair bit of air in bottle. Drank in Grassl Cru. Followed over 2 hours. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, initially tight, then opening up gradually, medium+ intensity, with aromas of dark stony minerals, dark red cherries, black cherries, violets perfume, bits of earth and hints of greenness. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), smooth medium tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of glossy black cherries, dark red cherries, dark stony minerals, bits of rosewater. Wet earth and dank vegetation getting more obvious with more air. Dark dense pinosity. Medium+ finish only though. Very good quality. Serious Volnay 1er for sure. Though the balance seems to be somewhat off to warrant a higher score. And this can still develop, but to me I think don't count on it achieving the balance desired.
