  (BOULAY Clos de Beaujeu) Clos Beaujeu Dear Friends, We've already offered the magnums and the 750's are just being bottled this week - if you think the 2005 was good, wait until you try this.... Boulay's Clos de Beaujeu represents one of the world's finest expressions of any varietal and it is still priced like a merely decent white Burgundy. As jaded as someone in my position could become, this wine gets the blood pumping and it usually doesn't even enter it's peak drinking window for 5-10 years. This is one of the only wines I buy in every vintage (regardless of conditions) but this year needs no excuse. When a vintage like 2007 hits Sancerre, a region that aims for a painful and piquant backbone every year, even the old-timers have that wide-eyed look. The vintage is one of the most reflective and crystalline in many years with a growing season that has become rare in a global warming world - this taster cannot get enough of the best wines as they literally spill their minerality and rocky tone over your face while you grin from ear to ear. The US allocations are half of what they were for the 2005 and 2006 (the 2007 is already fully allocated) but it doesn't matter - grab what you can wherever you see it.   (CLOS BEAUJEU Boulay) Clos Beaujeu Magnum Dear Friends, This one pretty much goes without saying - one of the finest white wines in France (in magnum no less) and it’s at a very good price. If you were going to splurge on a magnum this year, this is one of the most enticing opportunities I can provide. There’s really nothing I can say about this - it doesn’t need a lot of hyperbole (sort of like La Tache - you just know what you’re getting). Boulay doesn’t make many magnums of this so the rarity factor is off the wall on the Clos Beaujeu. This parcel will be hand-bottled form his best material and shipped to us in a few weeks and it should age for a long, long time. Here’s the IWC review of the 2005 version, the last vintage reviewed but you will get the idea of this wine’s pedigree (the Clos Beaujeu was the highest rated wine of the entire vintage along with a few Cotat bottlings at a much higher price) - the 2007 is even more crystalline in it’s expression of site-place than the 2005: VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED EXTREMELY LIMITED – bottled directly from the source with the utmost freshness and perfect provenance: 2007 Boulay Sancerre “Clos Beaujeu” 1.5lt (this is a terrific price on this - expect at least 30% higher prices than 2006 because of the Euro) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Loire7840
