Improved with 30 minutes of air. Nice rich ruby color, some subtle lightening of the edges. Really interesting profile with this wine. Had the typical Pessac elements, with really dark fruits, some smokiness, soil, herbs, and fresh minerals. Also had lots of coffee and floral notes, reminiscent of a Margaux at times. Medium-bodied, with very fine tannins. Medium acidity. There is enough fruit to keep this going for awhile longer, but perhaps the structure won't provide serious longevity. For now, this is a fairly elegant wine that seems well-balanced at this point. At least a few years left at this nice stage.
Nope, don't care for this. Best when first opened and downhill from there. Some nice earthy fruit, but dull, lacking freshness, and some wood and vege notes I don't like. No length, no depth, and not much of a finish. Drinkable, but no charm. Didn't care for the 2001 either.
