  • I agree with the most recent previous taster's note. This is definitely on the downslope from what it was or intended to be but it has morphed into something that might appeal to some who are interested in some of the more pleasant oxidative tones. Deep yellow, honeyed color. Rich lemon oil, citrus peel, and a little toast on the nose. Quite thick and ponderous on the palate, again with rich citrus tones, honey, walnut skin, subtle touch of marmalade. The acidity is gone. Definitely a different animal to what it was in its youth (I had sampled bottles in 2009-onward), but with the right pairing, such as with rich cheese or nuts, it might work. At this stage of bottle age, more of a fascination than anything.

  • Tired and very much on the decline. It still needed 30+ minutes to really emerge, but its only gave you glimpses of what it was in its prime. Richness, buttered popcorn, ripe apple notes, but it never really all comes together. Lacking in acid and full bodied, so it feels a bit flabby, but I think that is also a reflection of the style of the day. Unfortunate to have missed it at its best but, due to a crazy pricing error, I'm only out $10, so I can't complain.

  • Much better than previous bottle. On the decline lacking acidity on the finish.

  • Definitely on the down side. Lost the acidity on the finish.. Decent length and depth but lacks the acidity on the finish.

  • New Years Eve Vanilla Cream for the early arrivals...and "serious" wine sippers. No real substantive change to our note of June 28, 2015. Happy as Hucksters and privileged as puppies...we give thanks to Kistler for making this luvly wine and our Guardian Angels for giving us the opportunity to sip the same.
