Interesting wine that reminded me I don't drink enough Alsace. Was a bit "flat" upon opening, with a sweet apple flavor and not much else. Over the next couple of hours, and into the second day, it opened up with considerable more complexity, in particular a subtle black pepper element on the mid-palate and a very pleasant flavor of grapefruit zest that nicely offset the slight bit of residual sugar. I do wish we'd opened this a couple years ago, but it was still a very enjoyable wine. Paired nicely with a dish featuring farro, butternut squash, feta cheese and mint.

Deep golden colour. Better on bouquet than palate. A nose of pineapple and other exotic fruit, baking spices, apricot, honey and golden syrup, suggesting high residual sugar (in fact, 24 grams per litre). Flavours of peaches, pears and apricots, fairly straightforward and not complex. Also, slightly flabby, lacking a bit of focus, minerality and acidity, which leaves the residual sugar too prominent. Unctuous and glycerol with good fruit weight and nice mouthfeel. Overall, however, a pass for me. Update: after a day in the fridge the last glass of this wine was far better, more integrated. Upgraded from 88 to 89.

My system (nose mouth finish) /+/, showing a bit of age and golden color, just a touch of rs which paired perfectly with melon soup. A little to much rs for this to be a stand alone wine for me.

Intense deep golden yellow color. Flower petals and dried apricot on the nose. Full bodied and rich, the floral elements echoed on the palate along with peach and spiced apricot cake flavors. Interesting but a bit cloying.
