  • Opened with chop suey, during torrential downpour. Brambly, deep blackberry, blueberry and strawberry notes of confected fermented late berries. Nice depth and resinous quality on the bass notes. Potent, full body. Nice at this age.

  • I might have waited a little too long to drink this one. I like the fruit to carry through and the fruit had mellowed a bit allowing the alcohol to have a little presence. Still delicious but I wouldn't hold on for too much longer.

  • Opened with zouppa and rustica bread, this medium weight, expressive zin showing a dark rose to ruby color. Bramble, cherry, zinberry, oak on the nose, this gained considerable weight with air, darkening and beefing up the cherry and black fruits and more pronounced tannin. Considerable alcohol, but not over the top, this is showing nice age and is at or near peak. ON day two + under vac-u-vin this has gained weight, color and complexity, adding lushness, uber ripe blackberry compote and smoky hoisin. This is the first of three bottles.

  • Deep purple color. Brambly berries, baking spices, fresh ground espresso, mocha, minerals, and hints of pepper and a faint floral note. Medium body with nice, ripe tannins and very nice acidity. Much more pepper on the palate than the nose leads you to believe add nice zip to the spicy fruit. Nice length on the finish with the peppery berries and just a bit of sweet cherry. An outstanding offering. Wish I had more to follow over the next couple of years.

  • Pretty much pop and pour, left in glass for about 20 minutes before trying. Deep, dark purple color. Intense and rich on the nose with pepper, brambly berries, baking spices, violets, minerals, and just a bit of vanilla in the background. Medium body with ripe, chewy tannins, and very good acidity. On the palate the fruit is a bit more red than on the nose. Nice finish with just a touch of spicy oak adding to the pepper. Man, this is delicious stuff. Absolutely no hurry to open remaining bottles.
