  • A soft old soul that still holds on to the gravity and substance that it had 30 years ago. These wines are almost ageless and this one still showed great fruit and leather and a touch of smoke yet also some softer lacy qualities that are appealing but ay also signal the the beginnings of deterioration. Definitely time to drink these u while they can still be enjoyed.

  • One of the best bottles from this maker that I have had the pleasure to drink. Right in its sweet spot and much fresher and more primary than the older bottles (76 and 47) served on the same night. Silky and delicious. This wine does indeed drink for a very long time but it's not immortal so I would say to drink these 87s over the next 10 years.

  • At the point we got to this wine, my palate was starting to fade and I suspect if I hadf the bottle today, I could take a better run at TN worth reading. But, from my notes from last night, I foudn the wine riper in tones than many on the table, with a decent amount of tannin.

  • This was like velvet on the palate - so soft and fine - when we took my first sips. This, combined with the bracing acidic backbone and delicate, complex fruit made for an elegant wine drinking experience. We were had upon our first sniff of this wine as notes of cherry, cherry jam, mushroom, dust and dried leaves captivated us for 2 hours. A delightful wine.

  • Wonderful. Seamless and harmonious, perfectly mature with gentle red fruited flavours framed by developed cedar, sous bois and leathery elements, all conveyed with a gentle, delicate touch on a finessed medium weight frame.
