Nose of dry cherry and musty earth. Great heavy thick mouthfeel. Viscous. Cherry cough syrup. Surprisingly big. Seems to have many years left. Strong cherry fruit showing with a hint of vanilla. Decanted for 45mins and served with lightly seasoned grilled pork chops.

Perrot-Minot 2001-2005 Tasting (Chicagoland IL): Dense black fruit with meaty and earthy character, showingimpressive density. Slightly less fresh than another bottle from a few months ago, but still very tasty.

NSG North Virtual Tasing (Zoom / Chicago): Clearly darker in color than the other few wines in the flight. Aromas are also darker and meatier with plenty of Vosne-like spice accenting. Lots of concentrated ripe cherry fruit gives the palate volume. Spice-filled. Some roasted notes but not overtly so. A balanced 2003.

Nuits St. Georges 1er "Northside" Tasting (Chicagoland IL): Opened 2 hours before serving. Dense black fruit with clear old vine concentration. Slightly roasted fruit in the manner of the 2003 vintage, and possibly a bit too much pronounced new oak, but I appreciate the density and gravitas here. I think I preferred this more than most others tonight. Held up well for 6 hours.

Ripe black cherry and plum throughout, still nicely fresh, in fact brighter than I expected for the vintage. Started our with moderate density when popped and poured, but this picked up weight over a few hours in glass. I doubt much upside, but drinking very nicely. Just as good on Day 2, so I am confident this will continue to drink well for another decade+.
